Parent and Toddler Update

Our Parent and Toddler Groups start back this Wednesday 5th September with some changes afoot…

Roath

The start of our new school at our St Anne’s building on Crofts St, means we need a new home for our Roath Parent & Toddler groups. With the move to Llandaff North imminent, we thought it was a good idea to find a new base now. Parent and Toddler Leaders, Gail and Danae, have been busy over the summer scouting the area looking for a suitable new home. They’ve found one in the Mackintosh Community Centre on Keppoch St. As soon as they saw it they felt it was perfect – a cosy space with a kitchen off and lovely outdoor space.

We are located in the main hall which has a wall of french windows overlooking the bowling green. The room has its own kitchen and smart toilet facilities adjacent. It is a very peaceful, sunny room. You enter by walking along a ramped path (suitable for pushchairs) around the edge of the building alongside the bowling green, until you reach a little gate on your left just before the tennis courts. This leads into a beautiful garden space that we can use for our outdoor time. Entrance to the main hall is from this garden. We hope you will come along and have a look and help us develop our new home in Roath.

Groups start there Wednesday 5th September and will run on Wednesdays and Thursdays 10.00 till 12.00 during term time. Unfortunately this venue has no space for our Monday and Tuesday groups at the moment so we have had to put these on hold until we move to Llandaff North.

Pontcanna

Our Thursday and Friday groups in St Catherine’s Church Hall, Kings Road, Pontcanna continue at the usual time 10.00 till 12.00. The big change is that the Thursday group will now become a ‘Prebooked Group’, with families booking in advance for the whole half term. This is the approach most other Steiner Schools take, and our recent advisory visit from the Steiner Waldorf Schools Fellowship suggested we try it out here.

The Prebooked Group is for families who would like to attend as a smaller, more intimate group of regular families. The number of families attending will be kept deliberately low, enabling support and friendships to grow. The group will do small craft projects each half term, this half term’s theme is lavender.

Fees are paid half termly in advance. The fee for 5 September to 23 October half term is £45.50/£22.75 concessions (£6.50/£3.25 a session). Please book with Group Leader, Gail Chester, on 07974 936212, email gcpia@yahoo.co.uk. We have a maximum number of 10 families so please book early. The Friday group remains a drop-in session.

Penarth (Woodland Group)
Cosmeston Lakes

The Wednesday group at Cosmeston Lakes continues unchanged at 10.00 till 12.00.

Cowbridge

Our Thursday morning Cowbridge group will no longer be running. We hope to start up another satellite group outside Cardiff once we are up and running at our new Llandaff North site.

Fees for the year for all groups (except the Prebooked Group) are £5.50 and £3.00 concessions.
