Class 9/10 BIG Run
What distance goal have you set and why?
I set 10k because I can sort of do a 5k now if I push myself, and I think a 10k is a good achievement. I need to push myself to reach the goal, it’s something I need to strive for.
What are you doing to prepare yourself for the run?
I am doing running on Wednesday in school as well as on the weekends. I got injured recently so that’s been a bit all over the place. I have been tracking my progress with an app. It has lots of different days and weeks, and you do the run depending on what the app suggests, such as run for 10 minutes, walk for 10 minutes and it builds it up each time until you reach 10k.
How has it been benefiting you, and what have you enjoyed in the challenge?
I like that I am getting a lot fitter. I like seeing my progress as I can run a lot further than I could at the start.
Have you encountered any challenges and what have you done to overcome them?
Sometimes when something gets too hard, I have to re do it a few times, so when I got to the third week of the app I got stuck and I had to do it a couple of times to carry on to the next stage.
As a class you chose the Teenage Cancer Trust. What does it mean to you?
There was a person who used to be in our class who has been diagnosed with it, and her story was in mind when we chose the charity. I have had personal experience with it with my dad and things so it’s nice to raise money to help people.
