What equivalence to A levels do the terms ‘Distinction’, ‘Highly Commended’ and ‘Achieved’ imply?
- An overall ‘Distinction‘ in the Certificate is broadly equivalent to ‘A’ grades at A level, with pupils usually Excelling in at least three specialist subjects.
- A ‘Highly Commended‘ is broadly equivalent to ‘B’ grades at A level, although pupils can still achieve Excellence (or ‘A’) grades in particular subjects.
- An ‘Achieved‘ overall, is broadly equivalent to C grades at A levels, although as with ‘Highly Commended’, pupils may still achieve Excellence grades in particular specialisms.
