Music and creativity has played a major role Colette’s life since childhood. She attended the Cork School of Music from age of 6 where she studied baroque music for eight years, expanding into the classical and jazz genres. She has life-long experience of playing in baroque groups, orchestral, choral, jazz big bands and smaller ensembles.
Colette gained a BA Hons Jazz Saxophone and Performance at Leeds Conservatoire, where she first began teaching. She followed this with a degree in Music Psychotherapy at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Since 2002 she has practiced as a Music Psychotherapist with children and adults, and as a Music Teacher in schools and privately, teaching saxophone, wind instruments, history of music, musical theory and practice.
Colette enjoys inspiring and motivating students to develop their creativity and imagination individually and in group settings, and incorporating art, movement and joy into music lessons. Her main musical instruments are saxophone, clarinet, guitar, baritone ukulele, harmonica and recorder, and also works with percussion and voice.
