We have many different senses and through them we receive information about ourselves and the world around us. Children today face a barrage of sensory stimuli on a daily basis. Some children have difficulty taking in and making use of all this information – leading to anxiety and symptoms that affect development and learning – difficulties with:
- concentration
- self-regulation
- interacting with others
- ADHD/Autism type symptoms
- constant movement
- difficulty sleeping.
Sensory Integration therapy can help some children gain inner equilibrium, bringing about a new focus and calm. In this talk Pia will explore our different senses and their importance in developing a healthy sense of self that can stand firmly on the earth and confidently interact with the world around us.
Pia can also speak about the award-winning HANDLE® approach (Holistic Approach to NeuroDevelopment and Learning Efficiency) developed by Judith Bluestone for a wide range of learning, behaviour, and developmental issues.
Pia is a Sensory Integration and Singing Therapist with many years experience working with children and in adult education. She offers real insight into sensory problems, and most importantly, has a wealth of experience in the kind of practical therapy that deals with the root of the problem.
