Anna Podesta – Kindergarten Teacher

Anna is an experienced and qualified Steiner Waldorf Kindergarten Teacher who has worked at the School since 1999. She is our Early Years Education Coordinator and source of early years teaching expertise, with a deep understanding of the needs and nature of young children.

Anna is regularly invited, as an expert speaker, to share her knowledge to both Steiner and mainstream early years training courses. She is also a supportive mentor for many students from around the world who have volunteered on placement in Kindergarten.

Originally from Sweden, Anna attended a Steiner school from Kindergarten up to the age of fifteen, where her mother was a founding Kindergarten Teacher. Anna previously trained as an occupational therapist before starting on the London Steiner Waldorf Early Years Training where she was assessed as being a ‘natural born kindergarten teacher’. It’s a view shared by a generation of families who have benefited from Anna’s wisdom, love and innate understanding of young children.

Years ago  I was with my grandson at the Parent & Toddler group. A child was playing up. Anna reached across the circle and commented, “I think someone is needing a lap.” As he snuggled down on her lap, I thought to myself, “She’ll be in trouble now, they’ll all want to sit on her lap!” Not at all! Their needs had all been met as and when required so they all stayed happily in their places and Anna continued with the story without a pause. For 25 years Anna has given so many children a wonderful nurturing start in a truly nourishing setting.
~ Gill C, Grandparent of 3

“Anna has held so many Kindergarten children in her gentle wisdom over the years, giving them all a rich and secure foundation on which to flourish in later years. A true inspiration of loving kindness”.
~ F, Parent

“Anna provides a loving service to the children in her care, and a true colleagues’ warmth towards people like me who have visited the School [as professionals]. There are other teachers who have worked as long, but I don’t know of any who have managed to be equally compassionate and caring to the child, parent, colleague triage that is the essence of a true Waldorf education”.
~ Joy de Berker, Steiner Early Years Trainer

“Thanks to Anna my son experienced the whole journey of Steiner Education. Anna held such a group of diverse children, and held them all solely with absolute love and kindness. When I was privileged enough to be present for story time, I would have to hold back the tears of over whelming beauty. Thank you Anna for all your love for life and our and your children.
