Nicola joined us as Wraparound Care Leader in 2015 and was instrumental in growing and developing our Breakfast Club and Afterschool Care provision.
In September 2018 she took on anew post in Administration, and helps with all aspects of of this within the busy School Office, while providing a welcoming and supportive reception service for staff, parents, pupils and visitors.
Nicola maintains a supervisory role in our Breakfast Club and Afterschool Care provision, providing oversight and guidance with staff and service development.
Childcare and child development have always been a passion for Nicola, and an integral part of her life. She grew up in Devon where her mother was a Childminder and early years educator, and where her sister runs a home-based childcare service with a focus on outdoor learning.
After gaining her Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, Nicola moved to Cardiff in 2013. She has worked with children from age 1 month to 12 years since then, in settings including nurseries, afterschool and holiday clubs, while continuing to develop her knowledge and practice with a Foundation Degree in Childhood Studies from the University of South Wales.
Nicola has a wonderfully warm, calm and caring presence and brings her wide experience of working with children, along with her own experience as a mother, to support pupils, parents, staff and visitors.
“Childcare and education have been a key part of my life. I have always been interested in reflecting on different approaches, and when I came across Steiner education I immediately felt a fit with my own values and practice. Children have an inherent desire to learn, imagine and create, and I am passionate about supporting them to grow in independence and confidence, as well as fostering their ability to create their own play and fun.”
