What Our Parents Say
“A wonderful, caring and creative environment. There were a lot of good play groups and reception classes in our area, but nothing compares to the kind of play I have seen in the Kindergarten. It was by chance that we came to register her, but I am so glad that we did! I had taken our children to the Parent and Toddler group and loved the wholesome child-centred approach. Moving into Kindergarten when she reached age 3 has worked out really well. She adores her teachers and the imaginative play is echoed in her play at home and with other children.”

“Wewanted to express our gratitude for all of your work and time spent with our son since his move to Cardiff Steiner School. It is quite easy to see his developmental progress around his literacy and numeracy skills, but what is even more evident (but harder to define) is the great difference and advancement in him as a confident, social and caring young man. In his previous school, he was finding it difficult to find his place in the hectic, competitive and mainly anonymous school structure. He was finding it increasingly difficult to concentrate and his frustration was quite evident as soon as we picked him up from school each day. He now has a class full of friends who he can trust and who trust and understand him. He also has a teacher who has a very positive and calming influence on him.
He has always had an empathetic quality and a sense of equality, but these traits were quashed in the mainstream school environment. While at your school he has been able to not only feel confident to freely use them, but understand that they are integral to his way forward in becoming an active, caring and inspiring young man. Both sets of grandparents have regularly commented on the marked difference, and his happiness is easy to see.
It is a pleasure to drop him off happy each morning, surrounded by teachers who not only genuinely care about him, but who devote much more than they is normally required to ensure his happiness and emotional development. As parents the best that we can hope for is for him to be happy, safe and confident in himself. He is that now, but he also has an inner peace that makes us confident that we made one of the best decisions of our lives by selecting Cardiff Steiner School.”

“Designedaround children’s needs. We have seen our daughter thrive in this kind, caring and stimulating environment. Everything is age-appropriate for the children, and not target-based. The emphasis is on creating an environment where each child can reach his or her full potential in a non-pressured, play-based way. The child’s development is thought of as a whole, rather than concentrating on one particular aspect. Our daughter benefits greatly from the multi-cultural understanding within the school, where everybody brings something of value to the mix. She is brimming over with creativity, which has been actively encouraged by her Steiner education.”

“Transferringfrom mainstream education to Steiner we had concerns about our two children age 9 and 10 settling in. We worried needlessly. Steiner education has been everything we had hoped for and more. The teachers are so professional and enthusiastic and this shines through to the children. The children feel cared for and valued as individuals, they are very much part of a team. They look forward to the school day and we can see their appetite for learning increasing all the time. One thing that has stood out for us is how Steiner education values childhood. Children are allowed to and expected to be children. They are guided and encouraged through their development not pushed through their paces as quickly as possible”

“Ourdaughter transferred to Cardiff Steiner School, aged 10 after attending state primary school since she was 4. She absolutely LOVES it and even gets so excited before school that she has trouble getting to sleep on a Sunday – which was unheard of at her old school! We have noticed how much she was trying to grow up too quickly at her other school with peer pressure into liking certain music, wearing certain clothes and having the latest technology. However since she began Steiner School she is so loving being a child again, playing, singing and growing in confidence. She is fitting in really well, has made some lovely friends and is enjoying expressing herself rather than being afraid of what the other children will think of her. We also love the community spirit and feel that we are part of a big family. It is lovely to be so friendly with the school staff and to feel involved in the running of the school. We feel our opinions are heard and not disregarded, and any questions we have had have been addressed promptly and effectively, with a very caring and understanding approach. We so strongly recommend Steiner Education for any child of any background. We feel it is the best decision we have made for our daughter.”

“Whenhe came home after the Michaelmas Festival I’m sure he was an inch taller, he was so happy and so pleased with his day. He stood proudly in his Autumn Leaf Crown and Golden Michaelmas Cloak and told me that it was ‘the best day in Kindy ever’. He said that when the children from the Classes joined the Kindergarten children to sing ‘Morning has come’ it ‘felt wonderful Mummy, it echoed through the whole school’. Then his eyes opened wide and he said ‘and later we went into the ‘Great Hall’ and had a feast Mummy, it was real feast!’. Thank you for another wonderful day!

“Myfour year old son completely adores it. This is more significant because he was a very reluctant starter. The teachers were wonderful with him (and me!) as they eased us in gently. These people aren’t here just to pay their bills, they’re here because they believe in and love what they do. I wanted somewhere for my son where he could be HAPPY and have the company of other children without academic pressure – I found all that here and more”

“It’sa privilege to be involved closely with your child’s education, for them to feel that this isn’t just somewhere where you leave them but is somewhere that you are all connected to and have a presence.”

“CardiffSteiner School has taken me on a personal journey. I have been supported and guided by teachers and other mothers; offering me opportunities to grow as a mother and an individual. All the while knowing my daughter is happy, safe and respected”

“Assoon as I drop the boys off, as soon as their feet hit the ground, they go running to their classrooms, they literally can’t wait to get to School.”

“Ihave been amazed at his appetite for maths, and the rapid progress he has made. And the real difference is he loves it, and seems to have taken it in at a much more fundamental level. He ‘gets’ numbers. He even asks for extra number work he can do at home (all handwritten and tailored to him by his teacher – no printed worksheets here) and he literally can’t wait to open his book and complete them as soon as he gets home.”
