Garden Group
Monthly Garden Work Days
All parents and families are invited along to the monthly Garden Work Days run by the School’s Garden Group throughout the year.
Informal and friendly, they’re open to all who can drop in (children welcome). From sweeping the yard, to planting and fixing, the focus is on keeping the garden a happy and safe place for our children and young people. They’re a great way get to know new or different parents, and get out in the fresh air for some team-building fun.
No experience is necessary, enthusiasm is all you need! (but do bring along gardening tools/yard brushes if you have any).

Garden Development – the bigger plan!
The Garden Group are also evolving the original designs for the School grounds developed with pioneering Eco Architect, Christopher Day some years ago, in a collaborative design process with the whole School community. Much has been achieved towards the orginal design, and the Group are bringing it to full fruition and developing it further.
BIG Green Work Day
The Group also run the BIG Green Work Day once a year when the whole School community come together to beautify the garden for the coming season, and push ahead with the larger development plans.
It is full of good people, good food, good work and good fun, with a busy kitchen crew working to keep the ground troops well fed and nourished. We’ve even had musical performances to keep spirits soaring while we sweep!
It’s a wonderful way come together as community and feel that huge sense of achievement that comes from working together towards a common goal. A bit like the ‘Elves & the Shoemaker’ the pupils (and teachers) are always amazed and overjoyed at the transformation when they come in the following day.
Support for the BIG Green Work Day is welcomed in any way – from working in the garden or helping find materials, to making or serving food/teas (hot pots/bakes are always a big favourite for hungry troops) & more. See photos from past BIG Green Workdays.
