Jess returned to Steiner education after having her own childen. She trained as Steiner Kindergarten Teacher and worked at Steiner Academy Bristol before setting up and teaching at Apple Blossoms Home-Education Waldorf-inspired Kindergarten in Bristol.
“My own experience of Steiner education goes back to when I was in Kindergarten; climbing trees, building dens and ringtimes hold strong memories for me. Celebrating festivals together, especially the feeling of awe and wonder of the Lantern Walk, the Advent Spiral and jumping the fire at Midsummer, was instrumental in my feelings of joy and connection from that time.
The educational journey I had as a child and teenager was a wonderful, creative experience and I am passionately committed to this way of education and the meaningful life experiences and beauty it encapsulates.”
Jess is a deeply committed and collaborative practitioner who belives in building stong connections with families to support their children’s education and emotional journeys.
She brings her broad experience as a teacher and understanding of child development to seek ways to allow all children to feel safe, valued and to make progress. Jess is passionate about engaging each pupil and supporting them to become responsible for their learning. She is a trained ‘Thrive’ practitioner, (a trauma-informed, approach to improving children’s mental health and wellbeing) dedicated to creating a positive, ‘can do’ atmosphere in a calm and creative way.
“I firmly believe that children need time to unfold in a safe and supportive learning environment, where they are truly valued as individuals and supported to work together and care for each other.
I have a holistic view of children, as they continue to surprise and delight us in so many ways. I truly feel that it is an honour to be Witness to their growth and development and to be a part of their journey in life.”
